A couple of items to note:
- While 31% of businesses plan to trade in or sell back old phones, over 75% of consumers say they have deactivated, idle devices that could be recycled.
- Businesses seem to be less inclined than consumers to require a carrier-owned store to sell back or recycle their used phones. Perhaps if they have a bulk amount to unload, it's easier to go with an online option like Amazon.
- 32% of the businesses polled --who said they had old, non-active mobile phones-- indicated they were saving them for new employees which makes good business sense. Companies are more likely to embrace re-using old devices given their tight IT budgets.
